Federal shipping regulations require that lithium batteries be shipped with less than 10% charge. You will definitely need to charge the VMAX Charge Pump before it will reach peak performance. Using a compatible battery charger prior to installation is highly recommended, as this prevents unnecessary strain on your main battery and alternator by avoiding the need to charge the VCP from a near-zero state. However, if you referenced the VCP selection chart and suitable AWG wiring has been used, your alternator and wiring should be appropriately sized to handle this task if necessary.
